A driver has been cited for more than 30 vehicle and traffic violations following a high-speed chase from the town of Dickinson to Chenango Bridge.

The early-morning pursuit ended when flames erupted in the vehicle being sought. When police tried to slow down the vehicle on Interstate 88, it swerved into the side of a Broome County Sheriff's Office patrol car.

Authorities say 25-year-old Paul Frost Jr. of Johnson City has been charged with criminal mischief and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He also faces 31 vehicle and traffic violations.

The chase started around 12:55 a.m. Thursday when a sheriff's office sergeant observed a speeding vehicle on Glenwood Road in the town of Dickinson.

The pursuit continued onto Airport Road, with the vehicle exceeding 100 mph. The chase then went through the city of Binghamton onto Route 7 and ultimately onto Interstate 88.

After striking the patrol car, the vehicle driven by Frost hit a concrete barrier near the Chenango Bridge exit. No injuries were reported.

Investigators say Frost did not have a license, Two men who were in the vehicle during the pursuit weren't willing participants, so they were released.
