A man faces a felony charge after he was found in possession of heroin at Broome County Jail.

Authorities say 31-year-old Verties Toran Jr. of Binghamton was arrested following the incident.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Toran was discovered to have heroin during the book-in process in the intake area of the jail.

Investigators did not say how much heroin was confiscated or what charge resulted in Toran being brought to the facility.

Toran has been charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband.
