Binghamton Mayor Richard David is accepting accolades from Washington DC for efforts to help homeless veterans.

The Mayor was invited to attend a Joining Forces Veterans Homeless Capstone event with First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House to recognize Binghamton leading the way in ending veteran homelessness.

In October, the Mayor announced a new ten-unit homeless veterans housing project on Pine Street to not only provide a place to stay, but also job and emotional counseling.  That facility is due to be ready to open in February.
