Binghamton Fire Station Work "A Little Chaotic" for Neighbors

The people who live next door to the site of Binghamton's future fire department headquarters are dealing with some intense construction-related noise.

Workers are busy as the $8.5 million project on property between Court and Pine streets moves forward.

Much of the initial construction operations are occurring on the Pine Street side of the site with occupied apartment buildings on both the east and west sides of the site.

Neighbors who spoke with WNBF News say they've been coping with the noise since the work began late last month.

They say the racket caused by the heavy equipment hasn't been too disruptive so far, although a Binghamton High School student who lives next door said it's been "a little chaotic."

The city fire department is using a former car dealership building at Court and Carroll streets as its temporary headquarters until the new complex is completed.
