The Binghamton Devils are playing their best hockey of the season and continuing their winning ways as they defeated the Syracuse Crunch 6-5 in a shootout yesterday (Sunday) at the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.  It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Devils and is the longest winning streak since New Jersey took over Binghamton's operation.

The Crunch put Binghamton into an early hole as they scored the first three goals of the game. The Devils countered with Brett Seney's goal, his 13th of the season before the end of the first period.  The teams traded goals into the late stages of the third period when Binghamton's Nick Merkley scored with just 1:57 to go in regulation to tie the game and send it into overtime.

The game progressed to a shootout with Binghamton Left Wing Brandon Gignac beating Crunch netminder Mike Condon in the third round  to get the Devils the victory.

With the shootout win the Devils move their record to 16-17-4-0 for 36 points.  Binghamton is now one point behind Cleveland in the AHL North and four points behind Syracuse.

Cleveland is the next Binghamton opponent.  That game is set for Wednesday night at 7:05 PM at the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
