Binghamton Devils Host Syracuse in New Year’s Eve Tradition
Several thousand hockey fans will begin their New Year's Eve celebration with a stop at the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena tonight (Tuesday) at 6:05 when the Binghamton Devils host the Syracuse Crunch in a North Division American Hockey League (AHL) battle. For many in the crowd it is a tradition they have followed for decades.
Binghamton has hosted New Year's Eve games going back to the days of the Broome Dusters. Tonight's (Tuesday's) game begins at 6:05 with gates opening at 5:00 PM. The early start enables many families to attend and also enables revelers to head to dinner or other New Year's Eve celebrations.
The Devils have won two straight games and come into tonight's contest with a record of 11-17-4-0 for 26 points. They trail first place Rochester by 18 points. The Crunch is in sixth place in the North Division with a record of 16-13-2-1 slate with 35 points...nine points in back of the Americans. The Devils remain home to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday night at 7:05 PM.
