The Binghamton Devils got off to a winning start and an announced sellout crowd of 4,897 cheered them on as Binghamton defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2-1 Saturday night at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.  It was the first regular season game for Binghamton's new affiliation and the crowd roared its approval.

Blake Pietila scored the game's first goal in the opening period. That was followed by Nathan Bastian's tally on a penalty shot and the Devils took a 2-0 lead into the dressing room at the end of 20 minutes of action.

Neither team could score in the second period and Binghamton maintained a 2-0 advantage heading into the third stanza.  Scott Eansor got the Sound Tigers on the board on a deflection in the middle of the period.  The Devils defense tightened and netminder Mackenzie Blackwood barred the door the rest of the way.

Binghamton now heads to Laval, Quebec for a pair of weekend games.  The Devils return home on Saturday, October 21st when they host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:05 PM.
