When the Binghamton Bearcats softball teams takes the field this afternoon to meet the Hartford Hawks in the America East Championship Tournament one of the keys for them will be the play of All-Conference second baseman Jessica Bump.

Bump, from Windsor has been a standout on the diamond this season.  She is hitting .348 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI.  She leads the conference with 45 runs, five triples and a slugging percentage of .681  She was named the America East Player of the Week on April 22.  She was also selected to the AE All-Rookie Team in her freshman season two years ago.

In addition to All-Conference honors earned by Bump, Lisa Cadogan, Bearcats' first baseman has been named the conference Rookie of the Year.  Head Coach Michelle Burrell in her fourth season as head coach at BU was named Coach of the Year for leading Binghamton to a second place finish in the conference.

Also earning first-team America East honors are:  Outfielder Sydney Harbaugh. designated hitter Tiffany McIntosh and pitcher Demi Laney.  Pitcher Rhoda Marsteller earned second team honors.  All-Academic Team honors went to Bump, Marsteller, outfielder Jessica Phillips and third baseman Mikala King.
