The Binghamton Bearcats golf team finished third in the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate Golf Tournament held on Sunday and Monday at the Links of Hiawatha.  17 teams and 90 players competed in the two-day tournament.

The Bearcats stood in seventh place after Sunday's opening round and closed with a strong finish on Monday to move into third place.  The Bearcats shot an even par 288 team score on Monday.  They finished with a two-day total of 588. St. Bonaventure and Lehigh had the lowest team scores at 586.  St. Bonaventure was declared the tournament champion by virtue of of having the lower fifth-player score in the final round.

Bearcat sophomore Ryan Rodriguez had an outstanding tournament and finished in third place with a two-day total of 141...a three-under par score.  He was just one stroke behind the top two finishers....Nikolas Maff and Ross Pilliod.  Maff competes for Monmouth and Pilliod competes for St. Bonaventure.

The Bearcats travel to compete in the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on October 16 and 17.
