Here's your chance. You could be a part of an international art initiative, celebrating diversity and global connections, right here in our community. More specifically, the Ross Park Zoo!

According to Binghamton's Ross Park Zoo, Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project will be collaborating with the Zoo for the America Together National Mural Mosaic. This project will allow local residents to create their own paintings on the tiles to make up a mural which will be unveiled in February of 2025.

The Ross Park Zoo notes that America Together National Mural Mosaic is created by participants from throughout the USA and many parts of the world who each painted their own unique expression in a collective art project that showcases the beauty and diversity of our connections to one another.

I can’t think of any better way to kick off our 150th anniversary year than by hosting this year’s Global Roots project here at America’s 5th Zoo. For 150 years, we have been making connections that inspire and memories that matter. This project exemplifies that, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it. This project also adds to the growing number of public art installations across the Greater Binghamton Region, including several murals throughout our community. We look forward to the unveiling in February. Phillip Ginter, Ross Park Zoo Executive Director

How Does This Work?

Individuals, families, groups, or even companies can purchase a tile kit in specific color palettes of the artist's choosing, that coordinate with areas of the final design for just $50.

For example, completed designs have included paintings of beloved pets, a memorial consisting simply of a loved one’s name, or company logos or sports team mascots.
