The Binghamton Devils fought back once again to force another overtime, but lost in a 6-5 shoot out to the Utica Comets on Saturday night.

This was the third straight game in which the Devils rallied from a deficit from their opponent, after the game was even 1 to 1, the Comets scored two more goals, a total of three in the first 20 minutes of play for a 3-1 lead at the end of one.

Binghamton started their rally in the second period when Mikhail Maltsev scored to make it 3-2 Comets, and Michael Vukpjevic ties the game with his first professional goal 5:33 into the second period.

The Comets jumped ahead on a penalty kill at 9:07 of period two, but Binghamton had yet another rally in them, and tied the game with a shot from defensemen Nikita Okhotiuk, putting his first professional goal into the net, knotting the game at four a piece going into the second intermission.

Nolan Stevens fired a shot into the net after a Devils turnover, to give Utica a 5-4 lead at 8:33 in the third period, but the Devils would come back again, when Ben Street scored on a power play goal, tying the game 5-5 at the end of regulation.

The overtime period was scoreless, Utica scored on the fourth try in the shoot out winning the game 6-5,

The Binghamton Devils will host the Hershey Bears at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House on Wednesday night at 7pm.
