April Retires But Giraffe Breeding Program Continues at Animal Adventure
A giraffe at an animal park attraction in Broome County will no longer be in the spotlight as the park’s owners have announced they have decided to stop breeding the 17-year-old ruminant.
“April” gained fame in 2017 when she was pregnant for her fourth calf, Tajiri, an event that was carried on social media and drew 232-millions followers. She gave birth to her fifth calf, Azizi in March, drawing an estimated 300,000 viewers to see the birth on YouTube.
Animal Adventure says its breeding program will continue with the older male calf and a new giraffe cow that was recently added to the Harpursville park's 'tower' of giraffes.
