Amazon May Open Facility in Conklin

Two years after Broome County Executive Jason Garnar told Amazon the Southern Tier would be more than happy to entertain the idea of a new distribution center after plans for a facility in Queens were rejected, the Democrat may be getting his wish.

Several media reports indicate Amazon has submitted a special permit to lease close to 65,600 square feet of space at the former Matthew Bender facility at the Broome Corporate Park in the Town of Conklin.  The proposal is undergoing the local approval process at county and Town levels.

Amazon is currently listing online on Linkedin that it has two positions open for an IT Support Associate and IT Support Engineer at a future facility in Conklin.

Amazon is working on plans for 77,000 square foot distribution facility in the town of Bath in the Western Southern Tier.

There is no word on a timeline for development of a project in Broome County.
