45-year-old Aaron Powell was convicted of murder in January in a retrial for the death of his estranged wife and her friend at Christina Powell’s Town of Binghamton home.

March 8, he was again sentenced to the maximum of life in prison without parole for the 2013 murders.

The first conviction was overturned due to a conflict of interest involving one of the jurors seated for the proceedings who had previously worked on divorce and custody cases involving Aaron and Christina.

In the second trial, Aaron Powell was convicted of first and second degree murder.
