Vestal Student Housing Expansion on Hold

There is no decision yet from the Vestal Zoning Board of appeals on variances requested for a planned student housing expansion at Plaza Drive and Country Club Road.

The Board held a hearing December 15 on the proposal for the Hayes Student Housing Complex from Feinberg Smith Associates that would be taller than current regulations, be short on parking requirements and add 224 more housing units to the 10 acre site.

The complex currently has 184 units.

Neighbors say the project would disrupt the residential area with noise, parking and other issues and harm property values.

The board meets again in February.
