A Unadilla man is charged with two felony grand larceny counts.

New York State Police say 40 year old Jason Rude is accused of going through a parked vehicle outside a home on County Route 1 in Unadilla at around 2 a.m. February 18.

Rude is accused of taking two wallets and other items from parked vehicles in the area and unsuccessfully trying to use a stolen bank card to withdraw money from an Automatic Teller Machine.

Troopers approached Rude in his vehicle, pulled over at a Speedway gas station on State route 8 and say they saw him with one of the stolen wallets in plain view behind the passenger seat. Authorities say they found the second wallet in Rude’s pocket.

Officials say they also determined Rude was driving while intoxicated.

In addition to grand larceny, Rude is charged with petit larceny, two counts of attempted identity theft and driving while intoxicated.

He was sent to the Otsego County Jail on $5,000 bail.
