A public hearing to take comments about plans for a casino/resort at Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. September 17th.

Town Councilman Thomas Augostini was not at the September 4 meeting due to a family emergency, so the board was unable to make a determination of the project under the environmental review.

Still, some people gave their opinions on the proposal, speaking both for and against a possible casino development.

Over three dozen people had come to the board meeting.

While formal public comment and a ruling on the environmental review could not be done, the board did approve a resolution naming the town board the lead agency for unit development and a measure setting the level of development action for the project.

Traditions is one of three developers in the running for the casino license that is to be granted to the Southern Tier region by New York State.

Meanwhile, the commission given the task of making the decision on what projects will get the available licenses is set to start taking public comments on the proposals.
