For the third time in seven months, Binghamton firefighters extinguished a blaze set inside an abandoned industrial building in the First Ward.

The latest arson fire at the E.H. Titchener and Company structure at 67 Clinton Street was discovered shortly after 9 a.m. Friday.

Authorities say some papers were ignited in the building's basement. A similar blaze occurred June 11.

A larger fire was set in the building on March 21. That fire was fueled by wood and other debris.

No arrests have been reported in connection with any of the arson incidents at the old Titchener property.

The abandoned site now is owned by Broome County.

Police and fire department officials have expressed concern that intruders have routinely been able to get inside the building since the Titchener manufacturing operations were shut down.
