Area emergency services officials are reporting only a handful of minor crashes due to snow-covered roads into the early morning hours of January 6.

A crash in Kirkwood at the Industrial Park saw a car end up with wheels over a guiderail but it was not clear if that accident was weather related.  There were no injuries.

Unlike parts of Northern and Western New York, the Southern Tier got only a coating of snow.

Wind advisories had also been issued overnight from some locations east of Binghamton with gusts well over 20 miles per hour.

Following a dramatic dip in temperatures over the past couple of days, the weather is expected to moderate with the highs approaching 40 by the middle of next week.
