Binghamton-area residents soon will be able to sign up for Thanksgiving baskets in a program administered by Catholic Charities of Broome County.

In-person registration for baskets will not take place this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Those interested in requesting a basket may do so by calling the United Way's 211 telephone number.

The sign-up period will start September 8 and run through October 16. Calls will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Those who apply will be provided with a confirmation number, which will be needed when the basket is picked up.

Families who sign up for baskets will be mailed pick up information a week or two before Thanksgiving. The baskets will be available to be picked up between November 20 and 23.
