A 27-year-old man was sent to jail after he allegedly discharged a gun near the Richfield Springs state police barracks.

Authorities say Thomas Krietsch of Richfield Springs was arrested at 4:50 this morning, more than four hours after the reported incident.

According to state police, Krietsch is believed to have fired a gun near the barracks on Route 20.

Krietsch was charged with reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He also faces counts of possessing a loaded gun in a vehicle and discharging a firearm over a roadway.

Krietsch was arraigned in Richfield town court and remanded to Otsego County Jail. Krietsch was ordered to reappear in court on July 22.
