Baseball fans weary of winter can look forward to April 3. That's when the Binghamton Mets are scheduled to host the Akron RubberDucks to open the 2014 season.

A month before the planned opener, snow covered the NYSEG Stadium field in downtown Binghamton. There's also plenty of snow and ice throughout the stands.

The B-Mets will be hoping for good weather in order to launch the season on schedule. The first pitch for the opening game is set for 6:35.

The following night - a Friday - is scheduled to be capped off with fireworks.

Binghamton Mets manager Pedro Lopez is returning after leading the club to a franchise record 86 wins last season.
