Officer Smith’s Name Added To Binghamton Memorial
The name of Johnson City Police Officer David W. Smith Jr. now appears on the Police Memorial in downtown Binghamton.
Officer Smith died after he was shot minutes after he came on duty on the morning of March 31.
Hundreds of police officers from United States and Canadian agencies traveled to Johnson City for Smith’s funeral services on April 4.
Representatives of the Johnson City and Binghamton police departments were not immediately available to provide information as to when Officer Smith’s name was inscribed in stone at the memorial. It’s located on State Street near the Binghamton police headquarters.
