New York State Police Superintendent to Retire
New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico has announced he plans to retire but will continuing leading the State Police until his successor take the reigns.
A State Police statement says D'Amico plans to "pursue other opportunities."
D'Amico has been Superintendent since 2011.
Governor Andrew Cuomo, who appointed D'Amico, issued a statement calling the Superintendent an "outstanding public servant" who has lead the State Police through hurricanes, manhunts, prison breaks and anti-terrorism actions.
D'Amico has been in law enforcement for 35 and has been with the New York State Police for 17 years. He has also been a chief investigator at the New York State Attorney General's Office
