New York Gets an On-Time Budget
New York State has a new budget in place, on time again for the fourth straight year.
The ledger provides tax relief to homeowners and corporations and expands pre-kindergarten programs across the state.
The budget also includes $10 million to start Binghamton University's planned pharmacy and $5 million to support SUNY Broome County College's Carnegie Library project.
The Senate and Assembly passed the $140 billion budget minutes before the midnight deadline with the Senate finishing work at 10:30 p.m. and the Assembly wrapping up at around 11:15.
Some of the measures included in the plan are being fast-tracked by the governor since they were approved over the weekend and didn’t have the usual three day age-in after being printed on March 29.
