Broome County has a new Fire Coordinator after Brett Chellis last year left the post he had held for several years.

County officials say the choice of 50 year veteran of area fire services, Tom Vroman as the new, full-time Fire Coordinator was a “no-brainer.”

Vroman first joined the firefighting community in 1965 with the Hillcrest Fire Department.

Most recently Vroman has been the acting fire coordinator since Chellis’ departure.  He was the deputy fire coordinator since 1980.
