A Binghamton man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of a town of Windsor resident.

Authorities say 26-year-old Joshua Launt of Milford Street was indicted by a Broome County grand jury. The indictment also charged Launt with second-degree assault.

Launt is suspected of causing the death of 52-year-old Ronald Gilbert of Gorman Road.

State police were called to Gilbert's home on September 5. When troopers arrived, they found Gilbert dead.

Gilbert's death was ruled a homicide caused by an injury to his brain.

Police say investigators determined Gilbert was struck by Launt in the head after an argument.

Launt was arrested Thursday in Watertown. He's being held in Broome County Jail.
