Identity Released In Ithaca-Area Death Investigation

State police are trying to determine the cause of death of a Syracuse man whose remains were found in Tompkins County.

Investigators say the remains have been tentatively identified as those of Brian Austin, who had been reported missing from the Syracuse area since 2011.

Police say Austin was born in June 1972.

The skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area in Taughannock State Park in the town of Ulysses.

Police say investigators were working with the Binghamton University anthropology department.
