An estimated 300 people on both sides of the issue of high volume hydraulic fracture drilling for natural gas in the region don’t appear to have been swayed either way by arguments presented in a debate at Binghamton University.

John Holko of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York presented the ‘pro’ side of the argument while Sandra Steingraber of New Yorkers Against Fracking presented opposing arguments.

The presentation format was data-based and no rebuttals were allowed.

New York State has still not made a ruling on regulations for fracking in the Marcellus Shale as environmental and health officials continue to review the process.
