A Johnson City man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a rollover crash in a village school parking lot.

Authorities say 24-year-old Jacob Birmingham was arrested Saturday after the vehicle he was driving flipped over onto its roof at the Johnson City Middle School on Columbia Drive.

According to police, Birmingham was driving through the parking lot at 3:45 a.m. The driver told investigators he was going too fast and hit a patch of ice.

After sliding on the ice, the vehicle hit a snow bank and rolled over.

Police say Birmingham was not hurt in the crash.

In addition to DWI, Birmingham was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more.

Birmingham was ordered to appear in Johnson City village court on March 26.
