A Tompkins County resident faces charges following an investigation into the making and passing of counterfeit money.

According to the New York State Police, 41-year-old Charles Stillwell Jr. of Dryden has been charged with first-degree forgery and first-degree possession of a forged instrument.

Stillwell also was charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

State police investigators say Stillwell was arrested with help from the Dryden village police.

Stilwell was arraigned before a Dryden town judge. He was sent to Tompkins County Jail on $7,500 bail. He's scheduled to reappear in Dryden town court on Monday evening.
