Regional residents have a chance to weigh in on the proposed construction of a natural gas transmission line through part of Broome County January 12.

The New York State Department of Conservation is holding the fist public hearing on the Constitution Pipeline permit requests at 6 p.m. in the East Middle School auditorium on Frederick Street, Binghamton.

The 30 inch diameter pipe would take gas over a close to 100 mile route from the gas play in the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania through parts of Broome, Chenango and Delaware Counties to a station in Schoharie County.

Comments are being accepted through the end of the month.
