Several fire departments battled a fast-moving blaze that ripped through a house in the town of Conklin today.

The fire on Millburn Drive was reported about 8:30 this morning.

A second alarm was issued a few minutes after the first fire units arrived on the scene.

The fire scene was just east of Conklin Road and a short distance south of the Conklin-Kirkwood bridge.

Some nearby roads were closed as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

Broome County fire investigator Jeff Winchell told WNBF News this morning's fire is believed to have occurred when an electrical fire rekindled.

Winchell said Conklin, Five Mile Point, Kirkwood and Town of Binghamton fire departments were called to the home around 10:30 Sunday night for the initial fire.

The residents of the home spent the night at a neighbor's house, so no one was home when the fire reignited this morning.

A neighbor spotted smoke coming from the attic of the house this morning and reported the fire.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of this morning's blaze.
