Broome County Sheriff's Deputies say at around 2:30 a.m. February 1, they saw a vehicle on Upper Court Street in the Town of Kirkwood that had previously fled from Binghamton Police in the City of Binghamton.

Authorities say the vehicle again failed to comply and sped off south on State Route 11.

Sheriff's Office officials say 33 year old Shane Karika of Castle Creek drove recklessly and was going well over 100 miles an hour.

The vehicle crashed while trying to turn onto Main Street from Route 11 and Karika ran away.

He was apprehended after a short chase.

Deputies say they found Karika in possession of methamphetamine.

He's charged with unlawful fleeing a  police officer, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation of a  motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended or revoked registration and several other vehicle and atraffic law violations.

Karika was sent to the Broome County Jail on $5,000 bail.
