Broome Sues Drug Companies for Heroin Epidemic

Broome County is looking to hold 13 pharmaceutical companies and doctors accountable for contributing to the opioid addiction epidemic in the area.

The County has officially filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, Purdue Pharmaceuticals and others for marketing addictive substances aggressively, driving the over-prescribing of the drugs and subsequent dependency and addiction of patients.

It may be years before its determined if the suit will proceed through the courts.
