Despite Governor Cuomo's announced fracking ban, officials in the town of Windsor are looking to find a way to allow development of natural gas resources.

A report on the website of The Patriot-News in Harrisburg indicates the town plans to adopt its own regulations that would allow some forms of fracking.

New York state has not approved high-volume hydraulic fracturing and, according to Cuomo, that won't change while he's governor.

But town supervisor Carolyn Price said that other gas extraction methods could soon be allowed in Windsor.

Price said the town's amended comprehensive plan might allow vertical instead of horizontal drilling to reach natural gas deposits. Other options could include permitting the use of lower volumes of water or propane in the fracking process.

Price told WNBF News officials are making revisions to the plan that was adopted in 2006. She said the changes deal with a range of energy issues, not only possible gas and oil development.

Price, according to the newspaper report, "is determined that Windsor will find a way to frack."
