A couple former industrial sites in Broome County are being singled out by New York State for redevelopment.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the former Stow Manufacturing site in Binghamton and the Endicott Johnson Industrial Spine in Johnson City are on the priority list in the Brownfield Opportunity Areas program.

Developers can qualify for tax credits and possible grants for cleaning up and bringing new life to the derelict sites.

Funding for brownfield development in the region could hinge on the region’s application for funding under the Upstate Revitalization Initiative.  A decision on the award of those grants is expected within the next couple of weeks.
