A fire investigator was injured and a bomb squad was called after a raging blaze tore through an Endicott apartment complex.

The fire on Hillside Court - just south of West Main Street - was reported around 6:30 Sunday morning.

Several apartments were damaged by the blaze, which was extinguished after three hours.

Authorities said a fire investigator became ill as a result of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning. No other injuries were linked to the blaze.

Fire officials said the Endicott police department bomb squad removed items from the scene. They would not described what was in the building that caused concern.

The American Red Cross assisted several residents who were displaced by the fire.
