Binghamton University is going ahead with plans for setting up a pharmacy school.

The initial plans were outlined during a breakfast forum at the Binghamton Club October 1.  Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Donald Nieman says it's possible the new school could be open as early as the 2017 fall semester.

The SUNY system and New York State Education Department have to approve BU's plans before going for accreditation from the American Council of Pharmacy Education.

BU plans to be searching for a dean for the program during the next school year.

Binghamton University President, Doctor Harvey Stenger mentioned opening a pharmacy school during his State of Binghamton University address last January.
