The Stewart and Willma Hoyt Foundation is providing a $48,500 grant to help establish the Green Stormwater and Landscapinig Matching Fund in the City of Binghamton.

Businesses and homeowners can apply for money in the spring to cover half the cost, up to $5,000, to replace pavement in driveways and parking areas with permeable pavers that allow water to drain and reduces flooding potential.

This is the second time the Foundation has issued a ‘green’ grant. A $50,000 grant was awarded by the Hoyt Foundation in 2012 for a program to help with home energy improvements.

The city also recently received a $200,000 grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation that would help with flood prevention.
