The City of Binghamton is looking at how it can build on its growing reputation as a college town.

SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier or ‘SUNY BEST’ held a discussion on the issue at the Binghamton University Downtown Center October 2.

Officials say one of the goals is to make the Parlor City someplace where SUNY students will want to stay after graduation.

Some of the improvements being looked at concern access to businesses, restaurants and housing throughout the entire city, including enhancements to public transportation and bicycle paths.

Job opportunities are also a major focus.  Many of the students said they loved the area but had to have employment secured in order to stay.
