The Binghamton Bearcats defeated the Stony Brook Seawolves 8-7 this afternoon in 12 innings to win their second consecutive America East Championship.  Catcher Eddie Posavec drilled a bases-loaded single that drove in Reed Gamache with the winning run in the bottom of the 12th.  It was the longest title game in the 25-year history of America East Baseball Tournament.

The Bearcats have won three of the past six America East crowns and had to scramble and work hard to earn this one.  After losing their opener to Hartford the Bearcats rebounded to defeat Maine 6-3, Hartford 8-0, Stony Brook 4-3 and then today's clincher 8-7 over the Seawolves.

The win puts BU's record at 25-25.  Junior Anthony Grillini went 5.2 innings in relief to get the win.  His record goes to 3-0.

With the victory the Bearcats get an automatic bid to the NCAA National Tournament.  They will find out where and when they play tomorrow with the announcement coming on ESPNU at Noon.
