The Binghamton Bearcats are hopeful their hot play can continue as they begin the America East Baseball Championship Tournament tomorrow night at 8 PM at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.  The Bearcats enter as the number-two seed and face the Albany Great Danes in first round play.  Binghamton took two out of three games against Albany last week in Albany to clinch second place in the conference.

BU finished with a conference mark of 16-13 while Albany was 16-14, good for third place.  BU finished with its highest regular season finish since 2010.  The Bearcats, under Coach Tim Sinicki, won the America East title in 2009 and are the only America East team to finish in the regular season top-three in each of the last seven years.

Albany makes its fifth-straight America East Championship appearance.  The Great Danes feature two of the top-three run producers in the conference. Greg Muller led the America East in RBI with 27 while Josh Nethaway finished third with 23 runs batted in.  The Bearcats are led by Jake Thomas who led America East hitters with a .416 batting average.

In the other opening round game the regular season champion Maine Black Bears meet the fourth-seed Stony Brook Seawolves.  That game kicks off the tourney at 4 PM tomorrow.

The tournament is a double-elimination event with the winner getting an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The tournament continues through Saturday if necessary.
