Bethann Shapiro Ord is the new head women's Basketball Coach at Binghamton University.  Ord takes over the position vacated when Linda Cimino resigned to accept the head coaching position at St. Francis of New York.  The announcement was made on today's (Friday's) Binghamton Now program with Bob Joseph on News Radio 1290 WNBF by university president Dr. Harvey Stenger.  Ord has been the head coach at Weber State in the Big Sky Conference for the past seven seasons.

During her stay at Weber State the Wildcats rebuilt their program under her leadership.  They won 20 or games twice.  Ord was an assistant coach for 22 years before taking over the head coaching duties at Weber State.

Originally from Rochester, N.Y. Ord started her coaching career at Nazareth College. She graduated from UMBC in 1989.  During her stay at UMBC  Ord was a three-year starting point guard.  She earned her bachelor's degree from UMBC and went on to earn a master's degree in elementary education at Wagner.

Ord takes over a Bearcat squad that lost two of its all-time greats in Imani Watkins and Alyssa James due to graduation.  Binghamton finished 20-12 and defeated Youngstown State in the opening round of the WBI.
