Everyone loves special breads during the holidays. This one has been a favorite in my family since I was a little girl.

Banana Bread

1 C. sugar

1/2 C. butter

1 egg

3 mashed bananas (could be just two if they are really ripe)

1 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. baking powder

2 C. flour

2 Tbl. milk

(optional 1/2 C. sliced almonds or diced walnuts)

Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and bananas. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda.  Gradually stir into wet mixture. Add milk. If using nuts, stir those in now. Pour into a greased loaf pan & bake at 350. Check if done by inserting toothpick in center of loaf after about a half hour. (Loaf is done when pick comes out clean.)
