An annual basketball tournament that promotes an important message is returning to the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena from December 27th through the 30th.

The Stop DWI Holiday Classic draws top-flight basketball teams from across the United States each year to promote an anti-substance abuse and drunk driving message to student athletes.

"The Mirabito STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a much anticipated holiday tradition that delivers an important message through an impressive high school basketball competition,” said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston. “We are very excited to mark the 23rd anniversary of the event and the third with Mirabito as the title sponsor."

The event is recognized as one of the premiere holiday high school basketball tournaments in the Northeast.  The classic will feature an eight-team national division and two four-team regional divisions.

Regional teams will include Binghamton, Norwich, Owego-Free Academy, Whitney Point and Windsor.  The National division will feature teams from as far away as Virginia and Toronto.

Discounted pre-sale tickets are available now through the Arena Box office until December 23rd for $30 for all 20 games.  Individual sessions are $5.00  After the 23rd, the tournament pass will be $42 and the session passes will be $10.
