Officials are looking at a wood-burning stove near one of four buildings on a Whitney Point farm involved in a three alarm fire May 10 as the possible starting point of the massive blaze.

In addition to a garage and a barn destroyed by the flames, the historic farm house on Page Brook Road and another barn were damaged.

Several animals died in the fire and the owners of Stargazer Valley Farm yesterday took to social media to ask for help in housing some surviving animals.

The fire was reported at about 3:55 a.m. and, within minutes, was elevated to a three alarm blaze with fire companies from four counties responding.

Water was pumped from a pond on the property and crews remained on the scene through the morning.

It’s believed all of the chickens, four sheep and eight lambs died in the fire. A store on the property was not damaged.
