A Glen Aubrey woman is accused of driving drunk and taking out several mailboxes on Route 26 in the Town of Maine at around 7:30 p.m. May 9.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 34 year old Summer Laris reportedly was driving drunk and trying to read a text message on her cellphone when she hit the mailboxes, overcorrected, crossed Route 26 and hit a guiderail.  She was not injured.

Deputies say Laris showed numerous signs of intoxication and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .15%.

She’s been charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, moving from a lane unsafely, driving left of pavement markings and operating a vehicle while using a portable electronic device.

Laris has been ordered to appear in Town of Maine Court at a later date.
