Debra Gelson says she would work to expand victim advocate efforts if she's elected Broome County district attorney.

Gelson, an attorney at Tully Rinckey in Binghamton, is running as the Democratic candidate.

Broome County District Attorney Stephen Cornwell, a Republican, announced in January he would not bee seeking another term. He was elected to the post in 2015, defeating Gerald Mollen, a Democrat who had been the DA for nearly three decades.

Gelson, who lives in Vestal, will face the Republican candidate for district attorney in the November 5 general election.

Paul Battisti and Michael Korchak are seeking the Republican nomination. The primary election will be held on June 25.
