It's been several years since Binghamton TV viewers watched Greg Catlin and Candace Chapman co-anchor WBNG's Action News.

Catlin and Chapman worked at Channel 12 for decades in various capacities. They became familiar faces in area homes during the 1980s and 1990s as the primary evening anchors for Action News.

Catlin got his start in broadcasting at WCJW, a small radio station in Wyoming County in western New York. When he was young, he said "I always thought I was going to be a disc jockey because - growing up - radio was it."

Chapman said when she was in college, she also got her first taste of broadcasting on the radio. She said "you had to learn radio first" before you could move on to gain the skills needed for television.

During a WNBF Radio interview, Catlin and Chapman talked about their early days working in TV news and how things have changed in the business since then.

The two former anchors also discussed the state of journalism now and what they've been up to in the years since they left WBNG.

If you missed the April 25 conversation when it aired live on WNBF, we've posted the special segment in two parts below.
